Why Udawalawe

The park that stays with you forever.

Udawalawe National Park is the surest place on earth to watch wild elephants live as they should. We drive nothing else — one park, learned track by track over two decades, in every light and every season.

Elephants, every single drive

Around 600 wild elephants roam the park — sightings are near-guaranteed year-round.

Open plains, clear sightlines

Grassland and scrub instead of dense jungle — you actually see the wildlife you came for.

Quieter than Yala

Fewer jeeps on the tracks means calmer animals and unhurried, respectful viewing.

200+ bird species

Serpent eagles, painted storks and malabar hornbills along the reservoir belt.

Infinity Safari built the exact drive I couldn't put into words. From the misty dawn track to a candlelit dinner back at the lodge — authored, never rushed.

The local ranger made all the difference. We spotted leopards at dawn, watched a herd of forty elephants cross at dusk, and slowed down enough to actually see the park.

Dawn drives, empty tracks and the freshest kottu at sunset. Infinity nailed the rhythm — track, watch, breathe, repeat in paradise.

The park is open year-round with excellent sightings. The dry season (May–September) concentrates wildlife around the reservoir; the green season (October–April) brings dramatic skies and migratory birds.
